We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and rigorous Compliance & Policy Specialist to ensure our organization operates within the highest standards of legal and ethical compliance. In this role, you will be the guardian of our internal protocols, responsible for interpreting complex regulations, drafting enforceable policies, and conducting audits to mitigate operational risk. If you possess a keen understanding of regulatory landscapes, a talent for translating complex requirements into simple policy language, and the integrity to enforce standards across all levels of the organization, this is a cornerstone role that protects our mission and sustains our operational credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Development & Drafting: Research, draft, and maintain comprehensive organizational policies, handbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that align with federal, state, and local regulations.
Regulatory Monitoring: Stay abreast of evolving laws, industry standards, and best practices that impact our operations, proactively advising leadership on necessary policy adjustments.
Compliance Auditing: Conduct regular internal audits of HR, operational, and legal processes, identifying gaps in compliance and developing corrective action plans to address them.
Risk Management: Evaluate organizational practices for potential legal or ethical liabilities, recommending risk-mitigation strategies to prevent non-compliance issues before they escalate.
Training & Awareness: Develop and facilitate training programs to ensure all staff and volunteers understand their responsibilities under our policies and the legal standards governing our work.
Incident Response & Investigation: Lead or oversee internal investigations into reports of policy non-compliance, documenting findings and recommending disciplinary or remedial actions.
Reporting & Documentation: Manage a centralized compliance repository, ensuring all policy versions, audit reports, and training records are accurate, current, and easily accessible.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CCEP, SHRM-CP) are highly preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in compliance, legal operations, or HR policy development, ideally in a regulated or high-risk industry.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in document management systems and policy-tracking software.
Ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and case law and apply them to internal operational contexts.
Strong proficiency in creating clear, accessible, and legally defensible documentation.
